Filariasis, is a mosquito born parasite found in the tropics. This can be caused by leaches and other blood sucking insects found in the tropics. This allows for the parasite to enter the blood stream where it then reproduces and can invade various other systems of the body. This is originally contract by these insects by biting an already infected person.

This can lead to wide spread infection of the parasite since the mosquito can bite several people in a night. So if you don’t have it but someone else in your house days it’s very important to control the mosquito population around your house to make sure that other people don’t get infected. This has been proven to help prevent the spread of the parasite .

The other thing to take into consideration is how to prepare to go to a tropical environment. Many people every year got to tropical climates for missionary and other work but many don’t take into consideration what health procedure they should take to prevent the transmission of blood born diseases. The first thing you should b sure of is the your bed has a mosquito net.

Mosquito nets , allow for air to flow in but they keep mosquitoes out. These are important to make sure that you don’t get filarisis or another mosquito born diseases while you sleep. Always wear mosquito repellant. Even if you are a business professional this is good advice since it is incredibly easy to contract mosquito bites even in urban areas.

The causes of filariasis are simple. If you are careful though you can prevent the leading cause of this disease from effecting you. Always be sure to bring a mosquito neck and to always wear mosquito repellant. These won’t protect you one hundred percent but they will help protect you.
